I've only had this book for 2 weeks, and my 1 yr. old pit-bull that I adopted is breezing through the steps. I was a little overwhelmed with her at first because her energy level is so high. she wouldn't listen unless I was screaming at her or unless my boyfriend was around (she would listen to him) I didn't know what to do and even considered rehoming her. well I was raised that a dog is part of the family and is a life long commitment so rehoming just wasn't an option for me. I started with taking her to the dog park 1-2 times a week. that helped tremendously to get rid of her energy but I still couldn't get her to listen. I bought this book +2 more to start the training process. I've only received this one so far so I cannot compare the books. however I can tell you that this ones is great. ever since I have embraced my "leadership role" she has been a new dog. she waits for me to put her food down and get her out of her kennel. she knows she wont be petted unless she is sitting or laying down. she knows to sit with me on the couch instead of climbing all over me and acting crazy. she doesn't like to wait but she does it anyway. My mom came over the other day so we practiced introductions and it went very well. I've committed to training for 10 minutes 3 times a day and it has made a huge difference. She is starting to be the well mannered young lady that I know she can be. I promise if you put the work in you will have the dog you deserve!
