12mm is not the same as .5 ". It's thinner than described. Not by much, but when you're putting it on a dog with a little longer coat it's the difference between seeing and not seeing the collar. Shame because it is really cute! I just wish it were a little wider.Good quality! Cute patterned. Unfortunately was sent the wrong size and was never able to use on my LARGE Bassett hound. Gave it to a friend they loved it.Beautiful dog collar but has started to fade already. I'll admit, living in Chicago, the weather may have an extra adverse effect.Very cute collar. Seems to be good quality and the doggo thinks it is comfortable. The back of the collar is black, not white like in the picture
