My dog is not a super-chewer, but he is way too smart for his own good. We've tried lots of puzzle toys. We rotate them so that he doesn't get bored. And I have two problems with a lot of the puzzle toys. One is that once he figures out all the mechanisms, he remembers how to do it and it no longer takes him very long to do the tricks and get the food. The other is that it takes ME forever to put all the food in all those little bitty slots and set it all up and it's a pain in the butt. This toy solves both of those problems for us. The top unscrews, I put his food in it, screw it back on, and voila- dinner is served. And even though he definitely knows how to knock it and push it and spin it, it still takes him a decent amount of time to finish. He is very focused and food-motivated and he stays engaged until it's empty. And then, it's easy to open and wash out.It does need a bit of space- it's not a great crate toy. And my dog is an eight-pound maniac, not a giant alligator of a dog who will just crush this toy in his jaws, so I can see where it might not be perfect for everyone, but it works great for him!
